September Book WrapUp

I have my very small September reads🙈. This was probably my worst month of reading because I was so not prepared for the amount of work from school, my job and new changes that occurred this month.

I barely scratched the surface of my TBR list. I didn’t add #When with this pic cause that was a library borrow that has since been returned.

I promise to make it all up in October.

Here are my ratings of the books.

Shiny Broken Pieces: ❤❤❤❤❤
Chinua Achebe: ❤❤❤❤❤
When : ❤❤❤❤

The only review currently available on the blog is When, so please be patient with me as I try to finish up the others.

How was your September TBR list? Did you read any book you’ll love to recommend?

Happy Reading,

New Ideas & Setting Goals for the Blog

Yesterday, I stopped at Staples to pick up office materials with my coworker and I bought a journal/planner for myself. As I was checking it out, my coworker said, “don’t you have some of those at home already?”

I bought it just because it was cute. I have a tendency doing that but as I thought about the comment, I thought maybe I should use this one specifically for the blog. I can write down plans, ideas, and just write in it, all for the blog.

I set out for it last night when I got home. I wrote an intro/basic facts about the blog and what my goals are going to be in it. It was nice to write since I’ve not picked up a pen to write since school ended in May.

I also started thinking of setting goals for the blog. Where I wanna see the blog in the next 3months, books to be read, maybe a schedule for posting up reviews, new books alert and so on.

I have ideas bouncing around my head as well.  I was thinking of doing a podcast for the blog. I would do small reviews, discussion on some of the issues of writing, review difference in books, patterns in the book publishing world and more.

I have some topics that I would like to talk about and maybe post up the podcast on a weekly basis first. I did a trial run on my phone on Monday and I like it. I might do a trial run and have some panel review it before bringing it on this platform.

I like this podcast idea a lot because it will be different and fun to interact this way with my fellow book lovers and the book blog community.

In other news, I finished Dreamology last night and a review will be up very soon on blog.

Lara Jean is getting a 3rd Book!!!

As I was doing my usual rounds on IG this morning, I saw a post from Jenny Han from 22 hours ago. (Curse IG and its new algorithm pattern)

The rumors have finally been confirmed. Lara Jean will be getting another book and its called : Always and Forever, Lara Jean.

It will be released on 4/4/17.

Her comments section is going crazy, filled with excited readers and bloggers, eager for the release.

And I’m not.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d like another LJ story and see what struggles she get through and more part from John Ambrose and Josh and Peter. But, I think the story was great the way PS I Still Love You ended. Somethings are just great to be left to the imagination and not overly played out. With both of the books Han have released so far, it resolved a lot of answers, matured LJ and it was great.

Most series need many books to figure out what Han have done in two, and doing a third book will extend from what we already know but is it necessary? Its is only prolonging something we already know and only getting done for monetary gain.

**✋✋Spoiler Alert.Spoiler Alert ✋✋**

In the third book, I can see Han tying the proverbial perfect bow on a present to a series by giving the father a full relationship with their neighbor, Ms Rothschild. She may stir drama between LJ and Genevieve again (which at this point is very tiring). And include more about John Ambrose not giving up LJ and maybe even throw in Josh in the pot of love concoction! These things can be included in the new novel or not, but I like where she left off and don’t think we need to actually know more of what LJ will be doing next.

Authors should trust the readers to be able to continue and imagine what’s next after such a great ending.

With all my hang ups, I know I’ll pick up a copy but I know one is not necessary.

What do you guys think?

Reading where you’re not supposed to

I remember a time in HS when I’d always read my personal books instead of assigned readings and my proff will get mad and tries to take away my books.

I’d read the Twilight series and he would complain that it wasn’t real reading or good writing.

I’d still bring my books, open it, and read.

His opinion was annoying because he was putting down my choice of books but I didn’t let it stop me. I still read my heart fill and Aced his class!

I still do the same in College except no one tells me to stop . Then I’d miss some part of my lecture and spend hours catching up.  It is not fun catching up but when you’re a avid read and can’t put down a good book, you make those sacrifices.

Where do you read when you’re not supposed to?

How to Start a Book Blog with Nothing but your Passion

This is an Old post, getting re-posted.

I love to read (obviously) and write. I have come across thousands of books in my life and read many books in all of my lifetime so far.

Whats the point of this rant you ask?

Well, up until earlier this month, I’ve wanted to make a blog. A dream blog that I will post up all of the kinds of books I read, review them, tell you what I liked the most, what I didn’t, which characters were my faves and just show the world another girl who loves to be engrossed in the lifes of the characters she’s reading more than anything else!

But I’ve always stopped short in that dream. The moment of taking an idea from just your mind and actually putting it into words is the hardest part. I was scared. I was worried about all the wrong things. I was worried that I didnt have enough space in the apartment to get bookshelves, buy all the books to review, space to record the reviews, money for the camera of my dreams (Sony a5100), followers for the blog and time to do it all with been a full time student and worker. I made all those excuses at one point or another and it wasn’t until the end of the semester I decided to stop making them. I asked my friend Stephanie from  to give me any pointers and she told me to just go with the flow!

I started the blog on the bus! I was on my way to my school campus on June 6, 16. I created the email, an IG account on my phone and just put up a picture of the book I was reading. It happened to be a re-read of Americanah by Adichie. I reached out to other bloggers and tried to make myself known.

I have always read a lot of my books via ebook, borrow some from the NYC Library and buy others and that is what I’ll continue to do. I don’t have it all figured out, I don’t magically have 10k followers and a million books at my disposal but I’m learning, reading and enjoying myself as I venture into this journey.

I’m happy I took the first step toward one of my dreams and can’t wait to see where it leads me!

Please follow, like and comment about your story and why you went after your dreams!

Mass shooting in Orlando, Florida leaves 50 dead and 53 injured

Worst Mass shooting in the US

Pulse, a gay club in Orlando Florida was the victim of a now declared hate crime from Omar Mateen. Mateen declared to support ISIS from a phone call to 911. 50 people were killed and about 53 are injured, makinf this the deadliest mass shooting US have ever suffered since the Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.

I came across this news as I unplugged my phone from the foot of the bed and turned on Snapchat. CNN, DailyMail and NT had headlines about the shooting.

United State of America is going through a war with ISIS at this moment and extremist Muslims are pledging allegiance with the cult that has no regard for human life. I do not support their interpretation of the Quran or their ideologies, and obviously, Mateen believed he was doing his good by killing innocent people who just wanted to have fun last night. Had he thought that his act was conducted during the holy month for Muslims, Ramadan?

The world need more love than hate, more tolerance to allow people to live their life as they wish as long as they are not harming others. Hate crimes in the US is becoming more prevalent as each side believes that they would be better off without a certain group of people. To hate another doesn’t make the world better.

The country is in the mist of electing a new leader of the free world, and who we elect will have to ready to face many issues in the coming years. We must stand together to make this country as well as the world a better living place. There is no right or wrong way about anything, but the best option with less harm is most important.

I would recommend watching Captain American:Civil War because it is similar in the notion that there is no right choice, but the best choice to help the mass.

I pray for the family of the people that was hurt by this senseless act and pray for less events like this.

Happy Sunday.
